Only Microsoft takes a vig on every desktop. Your point is well taken, tho. Attempts to regulate file transfers of any sort call to mind the much larger issue of attempting to regulate the Internet at large. I have no empathy for those who would try it. Unless... is this sufficient fodder for another CALEA application waiting in the wings?

Can you see it? The headline would go something like this:

"Government declares all compressed files must be linked to industry-ratified certificate ..."
