Maybe Diana was making some good points, but I failed to see them. What I saw was a rapid descent into namecalling and accusations.

Looking back, Diana's first post on this thread, at least for some time, appears to have been #4596, in which she stated "In that this is the "Libertarian Discussion Forum", I'll also say that domestic
violence is a private, family matter that the gvrnmnt has no business involving itself in.
How families organize and conduct themselves internally is their own to decide
and work out among the family members. Inside the family. Not for me or you or
the gvrnmnt to poke into and judge. "

Now, this is hardly a libertarian point of view. It is more an anarchist point of view. There was no attempt to understand the Libertarian philosophy, but an outright statement that if a wife wants to beat up her husband and send him to the hospital with permanent disabling injuries, the Libertarian philosophy says "that's just fine."

Nuts. She never quoted a single item of Libertarian platform or philosophy to support that claim that is obviously to any Libertarian who understands the party platform a complete distortion of Libertarian views.

Perhaps it is time to revisit the preamble to the Libertarian Party Platform, which reads in part:

As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all
individuals are sovereign over their own lives, and no one is forced
to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others.

We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential
precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud
must be banished from human relationships, and that only
through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.

Consequently, we defend each person's right to engage in any
activity that is peaceful and honest,...

This is hardly consistent with what Diana was advocating as a Libertarian principle in saying that domestic violence was not a fit matter for government concern.
