Telseon Deploys Riverstone RS Family of Switches in U.S. Network
Telseon to Enhance Dynamic Customer Controlled Provisioning With Riverstone
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2001--Telseon, the leading provider of instantly scalable optical networks, and Riverstone Networks, a leader in service creation infrastructure for metropolitan area service providers, today announced that Telseon has deployed Riverstone's RS family of switch routers in 20 metropolitan markets.

Telseon's high speed Ethernet services, now available in 20 U.S. metropolitan areas, utilize Riverstone's RS line of switch routers to increase performance and ensure reliability and as a component of Telseon's customer controlled provisioning solution.

The Telseon service enables customers to increase their bandwidth from one to 1,000 megabits with the click of a mouse. With service enabling features for performance, control and accountability, Riverstone's RS family of switch routers complement the core of Telseon's network.

``We have worked closely with Riverstone Networks for the past 18 months -- and their products play an important role in our Ethernet-based services,'' said John Kane, chief executive officer of Telseon. ``Riverstone shares Telseon's vision for placing control of the network into the hands of the customer.''

Optimized for Metropolitan Area Applications, Riverstone's RS family of switch routers scales from the RS 38000 with capacity of 170 Gigabit per second and designed for metro backbone applications to small form factor optical metro access routers such as the RS 3000 designed for Metropolitan Area Access. All Riverstone products are optimized for the Metropolitan Area Network. They support OSPF, BGP-4, IS-IS, advanced hardware based rate limiting and traffic shaping features as well as metro optimized MPLS.

``We're pleased to be an important part of the rapidly emerging metropolitan area network and to be partnering with leaders like Telseon,'' said Romulus Pereira, president and chief executive officer of Riverstone Networks. ``Together, Telseon and Riverstone enable service providers and enterprise customers to dynamically scale their bandwidth from 1 Mbps to 1 Gigabit, and to deliver the next generation of applications based IP services enabling rich media, high quality video, data and voice convergence, and other emerging technologies.''
