Michael, Using Yahoo quotes I see that SPX was 122 in Jan 1973 and 61 Oct 1974. 50% cut. And it wasn't a bubble, but the oil shock was much much stronger.

Think April 12.5 puts look good to sell on LU? Buy LU at 10 and change seems like pretty low risk, no?

Q. Liklihood of a recession in your opinion?

I for one think Greenspan is simply telling lies to raise consumer confidence.

I feel that energy is the one thing to take seriously as dangerously multiplying a normal business slump, but is the energy situation really similar today to 1974? Then it was OPEC policy and affected the entire country, but what is taking place in California is kind of an artificial situation caused by political stupidity there, it isn't country wide.
