You can be sure that any ruling against Rmbs will be spun as a disaster. I just think that Toshiba, NEC and Samsung have all greatly ramped up rdram production so there must be customers out there buying all those chips. As production increases prices come down and are more competitive with sdram. A friend who has a much greater technical understanding of memory described the different memories as follows: sdram is like a garden hose linking the processor with memory. ddr is like 2 garden hoses. rdram is like a fire hose. Therefore, only rdram has the speed to work with the new higher speed processors being developed. Even if we don't need the speed and power rdram offers it is going to be forced down our throats. As long as the price is competitive I don't think the consumer will mind. Lets hope it works out like this. The situation does appear similiar to 1999 right before QCOM settled with ericsson.
