Value of 128Mb DRAMs Falls Below US$5
February 13, 2001 (SEOUL) -- Amid the continuous fall in chip prices, the value of 128Mb DRAMs dipped to below the US$5 level.

According to industry watchers, the value of PC-133 type 128Mb SDRAMs swung down by 0.99 percentage points to US$5.00-5.30 per unit, while the PC-100 type SDRAMs dipped by 2.0 percent to US$4.90-5.19 per chip.

The value of 64Mb DRAMs also saw the biggest fall so far in 2001, dipping to US$2.55-2.70 per chip for the PC-133-type 64Mb SDRAMs and US$2.45-2.60 per unit for PC-100-type semiconductors.

Although the value of 64Mb chips saw a bigger fall in comparison to 128Mb semiconductors, the significance is greater for 128Mb chips as the value fell below the US$5 level, which had been deemed as the psychological barrier for investors, an industry watcher said.
