Hi all - fwiw, here is a summary of analist reaction. From CBS MW

Analysts on INSP call
--11:52 am - By Tomi Kilgore
InfoSpace (INSP: news, msgs) discussed plans to cut costs in a conference
call late Monday. The stock is sliding 66 cents, or 13 percent, to $4.34.
USB Piper Jaffray lowered its fiscal 2001 losses per share estimate to 6
cents from 9 cents, citing the cost cutting measures which included a
20-percent staff reduction. Analyst Safa Rashtchy lowered fiscal 2002
revenue and earnings estimates to $379.9 million from $297.9 million and to
17 cents per share from 9 cents, respectively. WR Hambrecht noted the
"positives" included the company's efforts to 'clean house,' and its plan to exit
the business-to-consumer market to focus on its core infrastructure services
business. Analyst Peter Friedland said the company not raising 2001 revenue
expectations and the lack of visibility going forward as negative. Also, J.P.
Morgan H&Q's Jack Ripsteen said the new guidance was "in-line with
expectations," and said the company's return to profitability going forward
was an "incremental positive."

I ve finally listened to the CC this morning, Substantively, it is indeed an incremental improvement. However, I ve come to understand why some people have such a negative reaction toward him. Well, differences in the direction of where INSP is going aside, he has a habit of rubbing the questioners in a wrong way. He would say things like "you are incorrect" etc etc. Not diplomatic at all, even if he was right. I certainly don't think he needs to stroke other people's ego. It would be too phoney <pun?>! I don't know why. Is it b/c he has a need to put other people down? Is it just cultural misunderstanding? Something else? I don't think I will have a definitive answer; however, I ve come to the conclusion, I agree [sorta] with some of the folks here, he should at least back away from the lime light. If he wants to be the general behind the throne, fine. But he will need to cede some of his authority to a public figure who will be able to the Street w/o provoking an intense negative emotion. Just my reaction to the CC

best, Bosco
