Leaving aside the obvious levity, the "Christian Nation" crowd seems to be plenty influential with W so far

Doesn't seem like that to me. The only thing he has really given them is a move against government funding of abortions and abortion providers (not a move against legal abortion, or an elimination of all government funding for abortion), and one cabinet post. Well there is also the move to subcontract some government jobs to faith based ministries. None of these really smack of establishment of religion to me.
