You are right, the ease and quality raise new issues. However, there is a potential compromise, and that is to create a fund to partially compensate for hypothetical loss of revenue out of service fees, or, in the alternative, the provision of a bunch of free advertising on site. Or one could ban the exchange of recently released material, and let people continue to exchange oldies, that do not generate a lot of revenue anyway, meanwhile providing free advertising for recent releases......

The only artists that are really worried about Napster are the ones with "filler" on their CD's.

Now the Recording "Industry", that's another story. Napster is definitely a threat to their existing distribution channels...
