That was a nuclear device but it might not be categorized as a nuclear weapon. It was not exactly easily deliverable.

Thus, the 100MT DT bomb has a kill radius of about 140 miles.

Which is considerably less then the "Texas and the five surrounding states" that Harry posted. Thanks for providing some more detail Pete.
