Peter,

I think 68°C is well within the limit, and it should be fine. You may want to replace your dead case fan. I bought 2 different ones. One has thermal control and is extremely quiet. It has the probe on a wire, so you can place the probe inside the case. It is made by Enermax. Another one is made by ADDA, and it is not as quiet as Enermax (at it's lowest speed), it is still lot quieter than my old fan, but the good thing is that it seems to generate very decent amount of air flow (considering how quiet it is), much more than the Enermax fan.

Joe

Peter, Re: he CPU temperature reaches 68°C after several hours of heavy Unreal Tournament fighting

This sounds a tad too high, my 1.1 GHz Athlon (overclocked) is running 15°C cooler. What kind of CPU fan are you using? Did you deactivate the northbridge fan on the A7V133 (I heard it's terrible loud)? If so make sure that there's some air flow over it (e.g. with a case fan), you should also add some thermal paste between the Northbridge and the heat sink because Asus doesn't use any. Having said that, your temperature is still inside the limit and everything should work fine.

OTOT Peter - RE: "the CPU temperature reaches 68°C after several hours of heavy Unreal Tournament fighting."

I read on Anand's forums that the Asus motherboard temperature monitor detects a noticeably higher temperature than the normal temperature monitor KT133/A motherboards have. I can find a link to a thread that states that if you want.

Congrats on your upgrade! I'm tired of waiting for Palomino to upgrade... If the upcoming 1.33GHz processor is a Palomino I'll get a it, a new board, and DDR ram, but if it is a Thunderbird I'll just get something like a 900MHz Thunderbird and hopefully will be able to get a Palomino at the end of this summer...
