Hi Karen
I agree that it is precisely those who should be the most compassionate, who are often the most unloving. I say that to my own shame. However I would like to point out a very crucial difference, the importance of, you should not miss. A Christian who is acting in an un-Christlike manner is doing exactly that. They are acting in opposition to their stated belief system. It's called hypocrisy. On the other hand, those who take the position that there is no ultimate morality because there is no God, are stuck in the unenviable position of being unable to denounce anything, no matter how heinous, because to do so, would repudiate their own philosophical position. Of course they only do that when backed into a corner, as you saw with X. Five minutes latter they are back to denouncing this that and the other thing, as "Wrong". When pressed, they will start to argue about what the meaning of is is.
