fred....never allow myself to be blinded, or at least since 1973....

i went long brcm 12/99 at 105 on upward momentum....rode it up to 275 and at that point entered a gtc stop loss at 210....was stopped out a while back at 209.....the momentum is to the downside, lower highs and lows....this is one of the few chips that is trading near its bottom, most of the lower pe chips are trending up and basing...

brcm is a good company, strong growth, but is far ahead of itself...no mystical entity, it is a business like any other business, and even great products and management can't evade the vagaries of a slowing economy....in the real business world who would pay 18x revenues for a company...

i wouldn't short brcm, prefer to stay away until it catches up with itself.....too many enamored with growth and new "metrics".....that are not always sustainable...

if it tests the low, and fails to hold it can drop rapidly....closing near the low of the day not so good

good luck

ed a.

p.s....i'm an eternal bull, but i temper investments with reality in down markets.....
