A mere 25 extra basis points did not cause this crash. If you're going to blame Greenspan, blame him for the RIGHT thing - which is the ridiculous increase in Money Supply (and hence credit) to keep the bubble going since Mexico - 1995, accelerated after LTCM 1998.

I did think it odd that Greenspan says we are not in recession now. There
must be a lot of pressure on him not to spook the markets.

Agree 100%! - especially the 1/2 pt. hike. Kinda like calling a campfire a 4-alarmer & now we're paying for it(& probably will be for some time). Maybe Andrea(Mitchell) still had some "shorts" to cover in Dec...eh?
