Good take on JDSU CC:

Swiss Plant counts for half the haircut

Of the 4 cents JDSU has haircut for first quarter of 2001, 2 cents of it are for loss of earnings from the Swiss plant. So we are really talking about only 2 cents now and that is certainly well priced in here. In addition remember JDSU gets $3 billion of NT stock for the plant, now that is real value,(and that NT stock shall be worth much more soon) right now, which well more than compensates for the 2 cent Swiss haircut. This CC has made me see that JDSU is a compelling buy at these levels. Most sell side analysts won't recommend until JDSU is back above $60, which will be very soon.

I don't think Greenspan gives a shit about the Nasdaq. But if the Dow were to drop through 10,000 and stay there or continue down, I believe we'd get another between-meetings rate cut. He's old school. Remember, his "irrational exuberance" comment came years before the Nasdaq top in March 2000. As what's his face the crusty chief analyst for CNBC said on Friday (another old school troll), we're in a 15% recession, i.e., a recession only affecting 15% of the market. Unfortunately for me, it's the 15% I'm invested in at the moment.

Nice. $6 billion next year after $3.9 billion this year = 53.85% growth even after zurich sale. and margins to remain the same. so if you do the math---.74 X 1.5385 = 1.14 earnings in fy02.

TA, There was one item that was exceptional mixed in with a lot of cautionary statements.

Here it is as how I understand it:
Sales now for this fiscal year are 3.9billion combined.
However for 2002 June year end, it is 6 billion.

That is an over 50% growth rate for the next year!
I had the JDSU growth rate of about 36% for 2002.

It is early to estimate for 2002 but that is what their preliminary figures seem to indicate.

Apart from from that, the positive is that the company is now a powerhouse in this business.
