If AMAT gives a poorer guidance than their competitors for the months ahead, (lowest BTB, biggest decrease in profitability) exactly who are they taking market share from?

This market share thing sounds kind of fishy.

I listened to the downgrade justification by Van Kasper. In that spiel (for whatever it was worth) the analyst said that the company that was gaining market share was NVLS. And out of this entire group NVLS was her preferred semi-eqipment company.

As far I can tell market share is just bragging rights in bar after work. Profits and growth are the engines of stock appreciation. And in this situation AMAT comes up short.
