To cut to the chase, your final example is that the ends might justify the means. I don't now, but maybe could be persuaded to agree, that under those circumstances rape and slavery would be necessary to the survival of the species. But I'm not sure that necessary necessarily equates to moral. Sorry to be brief --- have to head home soon for dinner. Hate to cut this discussion short -- it's been a fascinating afternoon -- but one aspect of my moral imperative is to keep my wife happy, and that requires getting home on time for dinner! <g>
