And possibly a clown buying opportunity?

AMAT didn't sell off much in after hours, given the nature of the news. I listened to the conf call, and thought I heard a couple of negative comments, so I'm somewhat surprised.

Owned KLIC going into the Jan 3 bounce, but closed out my positions since. They have a bit of cash and not much debt, so they might be a value play depending on what kind of future the economy has. [edit] - oh that's ELGS and COHU that have the cash, not KLIC.

Currently own a bit of AMAT as a speculation, which I'd also sold into the Jan bounce and reloaded for earnings. Thus far, I'm giving the shorts a bit of profit on this trade- sharing is good. <g>

Earlie, Other than AMAT I not in that sector.
OTOH, I want opticals to crash tomorrow as I am holding a boatload of your favorite in this sector, CIEN.

JDSU warning has to help.
