cfoe, I agree with your interpretation of Christensen's work. EMC cannot compete with NTAP, assuming NTAP owns a disruptive technology, with its existing org structure. I don't expect EMC's culture to make the changes required to meet the challenge, such as spin off a new company or even a totally independent R&D and sales org within. Many may not understand how strong this prediction is unless they have studied Christensen's work. His reasons and examples are compelling. I lived through some of the case studies that he cites and agree with his conclusions.
