Well, we are zeroing in on common ground. I am very much a capitalist. I do believe that in a great country like ours, that government needs to provide basic services like police, military, health care, social security, education, roads, fire dept., etc. When this is all done it takes a lot of money. So my view is either we tax at flat rate with a constant percentage for all (NO DEDUCTIONS FOR ANYONE)or we continue with a graduated tax. Since, the current tax structure is not producing any great surpluses except in certain minds and past excesses during the Reagan years built up extraordinary debt, I do not believe a tax cut is appropriate unless it matches dollar for dollar in cuts in the exorbitant defense spending which is mostly wasted currently
