Or, for that matter, the late Buddhist conception of the Boddhisattva, who holds back from Nirvana in compassion for us, and returns to Earth to help us. In Tibet, they meditate on the names of various of the Boddhisattva, in order to experience Divine Compassion. What was austere and somewhat negative takes on an emotionally positive dimension, and the thirst for Nirvana, an essentially negative concept, becomes the thirst for transcendent Love......
