Telecommunications & Technology Asia Ltd. Selects Copper Mountain's Equipment For Asian DSL Deployments
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 2001--Copper Mountain Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMTN - news), a provider of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) solutions for business and residential users, today announced that Telecommunications & Technology Asia Ltd. (TTAsia), a Corporate Access company specializing in providing broadband infrastructure for business and residential customers in greater Asia, has selected Copper Mountain's CopperEdge® and OnPrem(TM) DSL concentrators to deliver high-speed Internet access and value-added broadband services. TTAsia is standardizing on Copper Mountain's CopperEdge 150 DSL and OnPrem 2400 MTU concentrators to provision and scale services for business and residential customers in office buildings, apartment complexes, and hotels. TTAsia is initially rolling out its services in Mumbai and Delhi, India, with additional deployments within the next 3 months planned for other Indian cities, and cities in Thailand, Malaysia, and China.

``TTAsia is committed to delivering in-building DSL broadband services to customers on the Indian subcontinent and in Southeast Asia and China,'' said Rick Gilbert, president and chief executive officer of Copper Mountain. ``We were able to meet TTAsia's needs for a range of access solutions appropriate for deployment in a variety of environments, including multi-tenant unit commercial properties, residential complexes, and hotels, and we are pleased they have chosen Copper Mountain's solutions to deploy their networks.''

``TTAsia is rapidly expanding its Broadband deployment in Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, and Thailand. Therefore, we require highly reliable networking solutions that are appropriately sized for deployment in buildings and complexes of varying density, and Copper Mountain has delivered such products,'' said Dinesh G. Choithramani, president of TTAsia. ``In addition, Copper Mountain's Asia team was extremely effective in providing us with the services and advice we required. This is definitely a valuable characteristic of any company.''

According to the Cahners In-Stat Group report, DSL Market Analysis, dated October, 2000, the Asian DSL market is expected to grow from 659,000 subscribers in 2000 to 6.3 million subscribers by 2004. ``The demand for DSL service throughout Asia is strong and growing stronger,'' said Ernie Bergstrom of Cahners In-Stat. ``Much of this demand is coming from business and residential customers in high-density, multi-tenant unit (MTU) and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) environments. With its wide range of MTU/MDU solutions and sales people in the field, Copper Mountain is well positioned to help the region's providers meet this demand.''

About the CopperEdge® 150 DSL Concentrator

Available in 24- or 48-port configurations Copper Mountain's CopperEdge 150 DSL Concentrator supports both SDSL and G.lite simultaneously from a single chassis, and multiple networking models, configurable on a port-by-port basis, including CopperVPN(TM), virtual wide area networking (VWAN), Frame Relay or ATM multiplexing, PPP over Frame Relay (RFC 1973) and ATM, IP policy, and full routing. The CopperEdge 150 is equipped with IP IQ(TM), Copper Mountain's robust IP service intelligence, which allows it to dynamically recognize user profiles and services at the IP layer and allocate network resources appropriately, enabling service providers to maximize bandwidth utilization, and easily scale to meet the escalating demands of millions of subscribers and support advanced services such as voice, data, and multi-cast traffic. Assured interoperability with a wide range of CPE, integrated access devices (IADs), switches, routers, and gateways through Copper Mountain's CopperCompatible(TM) program enables service providers to integrate the CopperEdge 150 seamlessly into best-in-class network platforms. Copper Mountain's CopperView(TM) Network Management Tools enable remote configuration, fault analysis, and performance monitoring capabilities for thousands of DSL concentrators and companion CPE from a single central location.

About the OnPrem(TM) 2400 MTU Concentrator

The OnPrem 2400 is the first DSL concentrator for small- to medium-sized MTUs to offer a fully integrated system, including routing, switching, bandwidth management and a dual-port or quad-port T1/E1 WAN interface with Multilink Point to Point Protocol support. Three inches high, the OnPrem 2400 can be wall- or rack-mounted in building wiring closets. With integrated Network Address Translation (NAT), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and OSPF, the OnPrem 2400's advanced IP features save MTU providers time and money by enabling them to conserve and manage IP addresses, and enhances security of subscribers' networks by hiding them from the Internet at large. Browser and SNMP-based software management reduce set-up time and overhead by enabling remote provisioning, monitoring, software upgrades and other management tasks.

Watching the "floor" disintegrate
exposing much air below
perhaps I will trade in my outperforming BS
for some shares of this growth stock
(or it is a value stock now?)
as the per share price of the two will soon be equal

gold over copper in the near term?
