Haven't seen much action at all today on SI. Couldn't tell you what that means; either everyone's lost interest in the market, or they're all off on Valentine's Day trysts a la Chris. ;-)

OEX may be breaking its December uptrend here, and COMPX is doing more damage than I'd like to see to the 90 log trendline. Ideally, you want high volume and a close 2% below the line to call it broken, which'd be 2375 or so. It's been pierced 4-5 times, I believe, using monthly closes as the line.

Looks like only the Dow may have an uptrend left...

I have to side with Cramer on that one. I noted at our site last night how for about 6 months running, INTC has been downgraded EVERY options expiration week and probably longer. It is blatent in your face manipulation as options expiration games are played.

scotty - which article were you pointing to on the Drudge site. Only one that caught my eye was the guy marrying his TV set. -ggg-

Anyway, here are the comments I just posted at the other place......

OK, I will admit it, I am confused. AMAT releases what I would optimistically call a horrendous report which I highlighted the applicable parts at
marketswing.com
so they rally 14% and take NVLS, KLAC etc up with them? MU rallies strong after numerous articles pointing out how DRAM prices have fallen through the floor and the outlook is bleak and not expected to get better for some time along with an expected dumping of excess inventory soon before next quarter's earnings? OK, what am I missing? Options expiration games?

Rolled out my short call play today on the bounce. Note I was naked last night so I wanted some peace of mind so I took the rally today as a gift and accepted their money. -ggg-

DOW and R2K fell today and as Don pointed out last night the RUT/R2K is in danger of breaking the wedge. marketswing.com

Well one person on SI couldn't have timed it any better. He attempted to make fun of our rotation call last night and now today it is in your face obvious. Even the moronic press is calling it rotation. Hmmmmmm Money is realizing that they bid the blue chips up too much when they are just as exposed as the techs to a recession. Conagra warned, Waterhouse warned and saw their profits drop 35%, DOW chemical warned and even good old Cambells Soup is seeing a slowdown. Rotation Rotation Rotation. There isn't new money coming in, it is just getting sloshed around.

Anyway, I just walked in the door so I will update charts and check the news and threads before writing more later.

Good Luck,

Lee
