I don't know all of that either, but I don't think that much detail is necessary for me to say I don't think he should have been fired the way that he was. Regardless of the specifics in this case, matters of administrative discretion are generally a function of due process and equal application of criteria. A few weeks ago there was a process conducted regarding the teacher they were considering removing for his racist statements. The fired teacher didn't get any such process. As for criteria, there either aren't any or they're being unevenly applied. There are a lot of over-the-top actions by teachers in that school. It's not reasonable to do nothing when one teacher fires a gun in a classroom, for example, yet fire another for lying about his colleague's infraction.

I agree with you about the virtual impossibility of removing employees from bureaucracies, like schools.
