The bad news is out, and, barring a world-wide economic collapse, there should be more positive than negative news. Migration is beginning to both 300 mm and to copper. Once Intel gave a big order, others have little choice but to upgrade also. If they don't, their per unit costs will be higher and they will not have the latest technology, which will make them less competitive.

I still think that the major issues is whether AMAT will gain market share. NVLS has extremely good technology. Given new uses for chips, I don't see us going back to the vacume tube.

In addition, according to Greenspan, we are not in a recession, but in a fearful environment.Consumer confidence is central, and is low.

We need time for restoration of confidence..

kIND OF HARD TO GET PSYCHED FOR THE eAST cOAST TEAMS, oops, cap locks were on, this early. We'll see if the Sox have achieved "critical mass" (sound like a Brinker-bot). So AMAT is up very nicely even though they talked the next quarter (or 2?) down. Model for the way to handle it for other high techs until the economy rights itself?

OT baseball

Red Sox equipment truck left yesterday. Pitchers and catchers report Friday, but rehabbing pitchers (Cone, Saberhagen) are already there.

Spring is coming! :-)
