quite an astute observation imo. this from Ed Hyman's ISI: our technology trucking and chemical company surveys dropped to all-time lows. CEO's are considering large cuts in capex {capital expenditures} budgets in the first quarter, and retail sales appear to be fading in the first few weeks of Feburary. Tax refunds are down 15% year over year, layoff announcements have have continued unabated and gross domestic-product growth both in Japan and Britain is slowing noticeably. To be sure, The U.S. economy {and world economy} is in the midst of a major business-cycle correction."
