Have you ever considered writing covered calls?

Yes, I have considered it, just never done it. Just found out a coupla days ago that covered-call writing is allowed in my IRA at CSFBdirect. I've read that it's best to find a stock that has a somewhat predictable (yeah, right) price pattern, a stock that is stuck in a "range." The idea is to write the call at the top of the range for a better premium, and either buy it back or do it again at the lows. So aren't we back to a buy low sell high strategy which I totally suck at?
