Peter, Thanks for your help...I have heard that my HP5100c scanner Software will sometimes cause such a problem. I moved it from my old win95 pentium computer to the new win 98 AMD and it never did work correctly. I gave up trying and hooked the scanner back up to the old computer. But I still can not get the HP software out ...Can find no uninstall program on my HP disk. Tried doing it manually but I just started making a mess... Anyone with any idea`s on this ? BTW this was my Dream machine... Sometimes it is a dream just a nightmare.... Steve
