Fortunately, I damned up a creek on my property this summer and ended up with a very large lake (about 4 acres)

Whoa Dude, do you know how illegal that is ? Have you ever heard of ESA and the 4d rule ? The feds would have a heyday with you know that damn near every fish in the US is listed as either threatened or endangered.
If anyone from the EPA or Dept of fish and wildlife is reading this thread, then please disregard the statements of Uncle Bob. he would never dam up a creek to disturb possible fish passage routes just as he would never think of driving his 4 wheel drive through a creek bed and destroying sensitive fish spawning habitat. In fact, Uncle Bob uses phosphate free soap when he washes his Mustang and never uses fertilizer on his lawn. i have even heard rumor that Bob carries a bag of granola with him at all times. :)
