Sorry, wrong again. African grey parrots talk in coherent sentences and have the ability to make abstract comparisons using vocabulary. Many studies to support that. Estimates of their intellectual ability are comparable to a 3 year old human. Certainly smarter than many monkeys. I've had monkeys. Parrots will hold grudges and get paybacks for a slight earlier in the week. It is only tit-for-tat and not general viciousness.

Actually, I didn't keep him "couped up all day" - I wouldn't have done that to Charlie. He just didn't like being in the cage and didn't like not being able to come and go as he pleased. I saw no reason to pen him up since he preferred being out. Actually, the only requirement was that the door was open. He didn't mind the cage if the door was open.
