IMO the jury is still out on that one. As I recall the story, there were reports by some of the staff on the plane about the disappearance of many items. There was a Presidential humidor auctioned on Ebay. According to AP Bush said ""All the allegations that they took stuff on Air Force One are simply not true," Bush said. He referred to published accounts suggesting that members of Clinton's party stripped the plane of glasses and other souvenirs as it took the former president to New York from Washington on the day he left office. If you want to parse that, it could mean that some or most of the stories ARE true. Or it could mean that the stories were partly true but not totally. I don't know that. But I do know that Bush wants to gloss over all the problems of the transition and get on with his agenda. I think, frankly, that's smart politics. He has seen what a pounding the Repubs have taken in the past trying to victimize Clinton, whether rightly or wrongly, and he knows how adept Clinton is at evading taking responsibility for his actions. Teflon squared. I'm waiting to see whether Congress investigates and puts some of the staff on the plan under oath. If the military people assigned to duty on the plane say that they Clinton staff didn't take anything off it -- no glasses, no china, no humidors, nothing except their personal luggage -- then I'll agree with you. Until then, IMO the jury is still out. I'm not saying the story is true, nor that it's false. I'm saying that the fat lady hasn't sung yet on this story.
