Warren Buffet, George Soros & William Gates Sr sign petition against repeal of estate and gift taxes.

The NY Times reports that some 120 wealthy Americans, including Buffet, Soros and Gates Sr have signed a
petition urging Congress not to repeal taxes on estates and gifts.

"The billions of dollars in government revenues lost will inevitable by made up either by increasing taxes on those
less able to pay or by cutting Social Security, Medicare, Environmental Protection and many other government
programs so important to our nation's well-being" the petition says.

The loss of government revenue would harm charities.

Repeal would have a devastating effect on charitable giving.

Buffet did not sign the petition because he says the petition does not go far enough in defending the critical role the
estate tax plays in promoting economic growth.
