..a lot like looking at a bunch of seriously wounded NewEc warriors melee-ing it out from the perspective of the nose cone camera of a thermonuclear bomb locked on the center of the action about to create a deep crater decorated with glowing radiation specks, and trying to make odds on how well one warrior will do against another.

Splendid metaphor, but that 's not the only way to view it. The techs keep making possible productivity improvements that raise global standard of living. The fact we're communicating in this manner is tribute to companies like Cisco et al. You of all people should know that HK, too, with its financial and electronics wizardry did same in raising HK to world pre-eminence in standard of living. So why deride the very engines of world progress to improve the human condition?

Yes, I do agree with some of the things you say. I'll let you figure out which ones they are.

But I don't agree with the cynical view that you and cohorts spout on various threads, all in the name of making a buck. Call it like it is -- one can profit from trading on stock movements in both directions, fine. But don't have to impugn people's investment philosophy based on fundamental analysis as so much trash. I believe there are several ways of trading and investing that can be profitable and we should be respectful of the differing approaches.
