"...but this recent criticism of the gifts is absolute bullshit."

Well it is hard to know what really happened as the stories regarding this and the Air Force One business have been in conflict. However, you have to admit that given the past conduct of the Clintons it is very easy to believe the worst of them, which is the real tragedy.

Another observation is that it seems that now that he is out of office the press seems almost out to get him, at least by the standards of the press coverage while he was in office.

I do know one nationally prominent democrat and I know he was not happy to have to defend Clinton. He also tells me that many other dems were ready to vote impeachment and that a combination of Dem party discipline and Reps over playing their hand caused them to back off.

I have in the past always given the pres, dem or rep the benefit of the doubt, even Nixon, until the evidence was out. Unfortunately, I am ready to believe the worst when it comes to him.

He reminds me of the unfaithful spouse, who lies about his indiscretions. This exasperates his spouse who goes several stages:

1. My spoouse loves me and would never cheat
2. I must give him the benefit of the doubt.
3. I am skeptical
4. I believe the absolute worst of him.

I guess that is where I am with Clinton. He has disappointed me so many times, that I will believe the worst about him and I doubt that I will be wrong very often.
