JILL.. first of all you make one good point.. butat the same time you are MISSING the other point of the earnings play. It is to take advantage of "Anticipatory Upswing" before the report or even "Anticipatory Downswing" like AMAT yesterday. JILL has been flying high and basically its about the same danger BEFORE the report as almost ANY stock out there. BRYR you saw that chart and than the ice cream melted. It could happen to any stock at any time.

If the report is good and even if the p/e is high the company will enjoy 1 or 2 good sessions. You will see enough with CIEN tomorrow and you will understand what I mean. We are not desperate for earnings plays they are plentiful, its just difficult sometimes to locate the good ones from the 'hyped' ones.

In fact we are only a a few weeks away from even more pre-warnings for the first quarter of '01.

The swing doesn't really begin until the stock has ALREADY reported and is 'safe' Or in some cases we might hold for more than 1-2 days before the report as long as the report date is not within 24 hours which is why I like a play that might be reporting 2 to 5 days later. Had we held JILL from the 28th for those few days it would have been a good trade.

If the report is good and even if the p/e is high the company will enjoy 1 or 2 good sessions. You will see enough with CIEN tomorrow and you will understand what I mean. We are not desperate for earnings plays they are plentiful, in fact there are so many that we are going to need support staff next season in following up the plays even more as some fall through the cracks. its just difficult sometimes to locate the good ones from the 'hyped' ones.
