Well, Mr. I Don't Have to Read Anything- I Already Know it All, that's fine with me, because I am one of the Unconcerned from your article.
I just read an interesting book (I know you don't read fiction, but so what) Lovingkindness by Anne Roiphe about a mother/daughter relationship that sort of reverses what our generation did when it broke from traditions. In this, the daughter, raised by a feminist single mom, rejects her mother's values and goes to live in a yeshiva in Jerusalem.
The mother goes to try to bring her home, and the book is two things- the story of their relationship, but also a look at Judaism as it is- or isn't- a part of their lives.

What made me think of that, was your comment about his kicking his fellow Jewish scholars. She does a lot of whacking, too.
