Absolutely. Crashes, though they are a myth, typically occur from oversold, seemingly washed out levels with heavy prevailing bearish sentiment. Therefore the sentient trading bear would close positions, often just before the blessed event. Happened to several of the posters on this board in '87 (which is why they still have to trade instead of being retired on the Riviera!!)<G>

i agree with that observation. even sentiment indicators can become part of the 'indicator failure ' phenomenon i have mentioned.
