There is no cliff, only difficult choices.
My wishes for your relationship with Jesus are not hollow or disingenuous. I rarely talk about people's relationships with God, as many find it offensive, but your bringing up the concept of salvation through alliance with Jesus opens the door for me to wish you -- in all sincerity -- the peace you are looking for.
