You are not thinking clearly Karen.

I'm thinking just fine, just not the same as you. I'm reacting to the complexity. You're treating it as innocent life--case closed.

The abortion issue is the single most complex issue the US has faced since its inception, IMO. There are so many different threads running through it--religion, health, ethics, life circumstances, family pressures... Individual situations vary enormously. Plus there is such emotion and such deeply held beliefs whether they're religious or limbic or philosophical or whatever. And it's so extraordinarily personal. It's mind-boggling.

Which means to me that there's only one way for a democracy to handle it--leave the decision to the individual to decide based on available information and conscience. The government doesn't belong anywhere near this one. About that, this libertarian has no reservation whatsoever.

Karen is one of the most consistent clear thinkers that I have seen on SI.
