Looks like the NT AH revelation will impede general market and particularly high P/E stocks today....Even AMD, with its low P/E and fundemantal strength and very favourable growth prospects will be hard pressed to close above yesterday's $26.23...Looks like the first hour might be nasty as the NT news gets digested...Throw options expiry date into the mix and today is bound to be a trader's delight...DELL's report really shouldn't surprise many here though, particularly their fairly negative short term outloook, given their obsessive reliance on a fast waning (relative to AMD) star and the consequent inability to compete effectively on a price/performance basis in the PC space... As far as I can gather, NT lowered growth and profit expectations by 20% from 30% to 10%...Of course that's not great news for NT shareholders, but the fact remains that NT's growth and profit forecast remain a positive 10%, and that's probably their worst case scenario. Not all that shabby!!! Any improvement in the general economic environment resulting from the fed's tinkering with interest rates could easily result in an upward revision in the NT forecast 3 months out... It is probably worthwhile noting that DELL reported $0.18 and trades at $23 and HWP reported $0.37 and trades somewhere around $35...Both DELL and HWP trade at 100 times reported quarterly earnings...Interestingly enough, were AMD, which arguably has much greater near term and perhaps long term growth potential than either DELL or HWP, most recently posted $0.52 and trades somewhere around $26...or at only 50 times quarterly earnings vs. DELL and HWP's 100...What I'm getting at here, is that AMD offers tremendous relative value and holds promise of much, much upside..
