funny the stuff you find when you put the words "fraud" & "dollar" into a news search engine ain't it?
The word "fraud" is ALWAYS a winner also really good mated to "bank".

Bank of America suffers site outage
By Troy Wolverton CNET News.com

Bank of America's online banking site was dogged by problems Thursday, in its third day of sporadic outages and slow service.

The company's online banking site for California customers was down for about three hours Thursday, and went down again in the afternoon, company representatives said.

Meanwhile, the company's online banking services suffered a nationwide outage from at least 11:45 a.m. PST to 12:45 p.m. PST, company representatives said. Executives blamed the outages both inside and outside California on a problem with the sites' network connection.

"We're working as quickly as we can to restore the service," said Bank of America spokesman Harvey Radin.

The outages come after Bank of America's California online banking customers experienced problems for two days while using the site. Although the California banking site did not suffer an outage on Tuesday or Wednesday, the same network problems slowed the delivery of pages and made it difficult for many customers to log on to their accounts, said company spokeswoman Eloise Hale.

Customers who tried to log on to the online banking site received a message saying that the service was temporarily unavailable.

"We are currently experiencing an online banking service interruption," the company said in its note to customers. "We apologize for this inconvenience and are working to restore your service as quickly as possible."

Bakersfield, Calif., resident Len Svitenko on Thursday said that he's tried to get into his online banking account for the past three days. Svitenko, who visits Bank of America's online banking site daily to pay bills, said he's been unable to do so since Monday.

"It's frustrating, there's no question," he said. "It's a pain. They have a good site when it works, but three days is ridiculous."

and how about when the bank tellers can't be trusted?

Ring members posed as tellers to cheat S. Florida banks of $1.6 million
WEST PALM BEACH -- In less than a year, members of a large South Florida fraud ring bilked three banks out of $1.6 million by getting hired as bank tellers and issuing fake checks from accounts with large balances, investigators said.
Delray Beach police, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI joined together nearly two years ago to stop the operation. On Thursday, they announced the arrests of 15 people.

Investigators said First Union banks in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties suffered the worst losses -- about $1 million -- from July 1998 to March 1999. Other targeted banks were Washington Mutual and NationsBank.

"We think it's a real important case from the standpoint that these people had the ability to carry this on and recruit others," said Michael Washam, FDLE special agent supervisor for the West Palm Beach office. "This many people is highly unusual."
