CIEN has less than $1B annual revenue. Prior to the warning, NT was at a $32B runrate. In a rapidly growing niche such as DWDM, it is comparatively simple for CIEN to report growth simply by reporting one extra sale within the Q compared to expectations. It's also likely that none of the niches served by CIEN were cut back by the service providers whereas NT has both legacy as well as leading edge products.

Given the relative size of the 2 companies, and the disparity in products being sold, no definitive statement re market share can be made with the public info available today. NT says they're not losing share. And if they knowingly make false statements, there are a few dozen law firms that will sue their butts off. Blatant lies are not something which CEOs of legitimate companies do.
