OT re taxes:

Options held over a year get long-term cap gain treatment. I know this, because I've done it repeatedly.

I've never held a short for 12 months, but I think that (assuming it isn't part of a hedge), it would also qualify as long-term.

I'm not an accountant, and am entirely self-taught re tax rules.
