I am sure there is something we do not understand about this story but I do not know what it is. Perhaps it is many things. Remember LU kept saying, quarter after quarter after quarter, thing would improve ....... next quarter. Is NT about to do the same? SCMR is expressing doubts but CIEN has none. From Yahoo ProfileCIENA offers optical transport and intelligent optical switching systems that enable service providers to provision, manage and deliver high-bandwidth services to their customers. Everyone else has broadband slowing. DSL Satellite Fiber itself Optical components From Yahoo on SCMRSycamore Networks Inc. develops and markets software-based intelligent optical networking products that enable network service providers to quickly and cost-effectively provide bandwidth and create new high speed data services. The Company's intelligent optical networking products are designed to allow service providers to deploy, manage and optimize the performance of their fiber optic networks. Sycamore's products are based on a common software architecture that it believes will accelerate its release of new products and enable the Company's customers to upgrade with minimal network impact and operator training Can someone tell me how SCMR and CIEN compete? It looks to me as if they do compete as well as compete with NT and LU. Are CIEN's produts are that much better, in every way, that they are not suffering in any way shape or form along with the rest of the industry. This just does not compute. IMHO Now, looking out further, how does CIEN's products compare with what AVNX is doing? Where is AVNX in the picture anyway? Are they a competitor in this space? I would think so. Is this just the final flush of good luck for CIEN? Is AVNX just another broken story? I am looking for that Gilder article but can not find it. Perhaps there was a clue or two in there. But..... I still say it does not all quite add up. Even if it does add up, there seems to be so many players with so many products, how long can they maintain their lead? Are they really ahead at all? Is this a good "value" stock at this PE with all these questions? M
