There is nothing wrong with greater ideological consensus in the two parties. Coalitions must accept a certain degree of diversity, but they must also have enough of a common agenda to bind divergent interests together. The thing which unites social conservatives, fiscal conservatives, libertarians, constitutionalists, and other minor factions, is the idea that the federal government has aggrandized itself too much, and should relax its grip on society, and allow those governmental units closer to situations handle more of the burden of governance. The thing that unites most Democrats is the idea of the efficacy of federal action, and the extension of federal responsibility, to regulate the economy and address social problems. I doubt, very sincerely, that anyone who voted for Reagan twice is in favor of a big federal government.

As Reagan said, one of the biggest of Big Lies is the statement, "I'm from the federal government and I'm here to help you."

You have never uttered on this thread or any other that I have read, one single statement that is consistent with Republicanism. I think you are trying to fool us. Not that I care.

Your positions and postures are very far to the Left. And you take up far more attention than you deserve.
