>That rate cut was on Thursday, October 15, 1998 at about 3:15 eastern time<

What a good memory! No wonder I didn't pay attention....that was my birthday. I did something really unusual that day <g>....I played in a tennis match. That was also about when I first started following the market...and the first two stocks I owned that I had purchased were PFE (before Viagra), and (sorry Glenn)....but Amazon. I owned some other stocks, but I had never really thought about actively following the market, and just saw owning stocks as something similar to putting money into a savings account. Most of the other stocks that I owned at that time were very conservative REITs or "old economy" stocks. My reason for buying AMZN at the time had nothing to do with the company fundamentals....but strictly on the basis of being 100% sold on the fantastic service that AMZN provided for their customers.

I hope you did well with your Valentine's Day sales at your stores. Our local news did a very funny news story about how stressful Valentine's Day is for men...and their attempt to buy the "perfect" gift.
