Why do you think they are skipping 1.6GHz?

I don't have an answer for that. If AMD has 1.33 or 1.4 GHz Tbird up, 1.7 GHz P4 is not going to be the performance champion anyway, and for people who don't care about performance, and just go by MHz, 1.6 is enough, since 1.6 > 1.33 or 1.4

Anyway, it's funny to see the brand new CPU start to run out of steam so soon after the initial release. Maybe the version with the higher pin count will breath more life into P4 as far as the bin splits are concerned.
