elmatador, voice and text messaging are still the killer apps all over the world.
I just got a first (very short) e-mail ever from my 14 year old niece in Sweden: Hi Lars how are you we are fine. What kind of cell phone do you have? I have a 5110 (no mentioning of the name Nokia) what do you have? (I had to go out to the car to check the model no. of my Nokia). She said she would love to get an sms - I had to tell her I don't have it yet in the U.S.
There is still hope for GSM and certainly for Nokia.
But IF you were right about poor profit and saturation, why is everyone on the QCOM board still so excited about possible 2G CDMA e.g. in China -the stock jumps on every bit of news from China? Since GSM leads to 3G W-CDMA you would think that they would be equally happy about the recent GSM deals in Egypt and northeast China.
I have some QCOM but not for 2G-reasons.
