Thanks for that article Robert.

I backs up (but doesn't totally confirm) the conclusions I reached yesterday: DWDM is hot and SONET/WDM is not and CSCO's Cerent acquisition will soon go the way of its Monterey acq.

The circumstantial evidence for the above is so strong, it is almost painful to see NT predicting a rebound in long-haul optical revenues by the end of the year.

The problem is not just the economy, it is that the cows that were lined up for slaughter (NT's customers) have wised up. NT needs to get its DWDM solution working but fast.

Robert ---briefing.com has a habit of saying I told you so after the fact ---if he had posted this a month a go I would be impressed . Telecom carriers are doing the right thing to maximize their capital expenditures in these trying times that have been created by the FED . I still have an issue that a 1 billion dollar company ( niche player) is beating a total solution provider and is causing a 25 % shortfall in qtr revenues ( their is more to the story )

BEST WISHES
BILL
PS Thanks for posting the article

Robert,

I disagree with you, NT is a major DWDM player as well as most other components of optical networking, that's where it's strength was and that's why they took major contracts delivering all pieces of the puzzle.

If the slow down is hearting them, I beleive it will hurt all other players to. I would not be surprised to see other players who are still saying the future is rosy issue warnings in the weeks ahead.

I would stay away of the sector until I see some visibility about the US economy.

My 2 cents,
KG
