Also short XLA, NETE, and trying on NTIQ, but a hard borrow.

NTIQ has listed options traded so you can do a synthetic short by selling a call and buying a put at the same strike with the same dollar risk/reward profile as shorting without having to worry about affirmative determination or upbid rule. The synthetic short also can be done with greater leverage but be careful because leverage works both ways.
